Practice guidance supplied by Mkinetics Sports & Wellness. Updated 27 October 2026.
Some techniques in this guide depend on suitability and current service availability. Their inclusion is preparation guidance, not confirmation that each service is currently available or included in a chosen session.
General preparation
Before your visit
Wear clean, comfortable clothing suited to your session.
What to expect
Tell us about injuries, medical conditions, medication, allergies, pregnancy or sensitive skin before treatment. You may ask questions, change pressure, decline a technique or stop at any time. Please reschedule if you have a fever, contagious illness, an open wound or feel seriously unwell. During massage, you will be covered appropriately; only the treatment area is exposed.
Sports, relaxation & recovery massage
What to wear
Comfortable underwear or clothing that allows access to the treatment area. You only undress to your comfort level.
What to expect
A short consultation, agreed pressure and treatment areas, privacy to change, and towels or sheets for coverage. Pressure should be manageable, not sharply painful. Temporary relaxation, tenderness or fatigue may occur.
Active stretching & mobility
What to wear
Stretchy sportswear: shorts, leggings or track pants, a T-shirt or sports top, and trainers if needed. Avoid jeans, restrictive clothing and unsuitable footwear.
What to expect
Controlled stretches, mobility drills and a movement assessment. You may feel a pulling sensation, but stretches should never be forced through sharp pain.
Mobility screening
What to wear
Comfortable sportswear that allows movement and lets the therapist observe the relevant areas.
What to expect
Selected movements, such as squatting, reaching or bending, followed by feedback and suitable next steps. This is not a medical diagnosis.
Kinesiology tape & muscle patches
What to wear
Clothing that allows access to the area being taped or treated, such as shorts for knees or thighs, or a sleeveless top for shoulders.
What to expect
A small area of skin may need to be exposed. Tell us about adhesive allergies or sensitive skin. Remove tape or products if you develop significant itching, burning, blistering, numbness or irritation.
Massage gun
What to wear
Comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area; direct skin access may be needed.
What to expect
Manageable vibration or rhythmic pressure. It should not be sharply painful. Tell us about pain, tingling, numbness, bruising or bleeding risks.
Ice packs & ice baths
What to wear
For an ice pack, wear clothing that allows access to the target area. For an ice bath, wear suitable swimwear and bring a towel and dry clothes.
What to expect
Cold, tingling and discomfort may occur. Stop and tell us if you experience severe pain, numbness, dizziness, chest discomfort, breathing difficulty or confusion. Inform us about heart, blood-pressure, circulation or cold-sensitivity concerns.
Vital Light Therapy
What to wear
Mkinetics asks you to wear comfortable, light-coloured clothing and avoid black clothing for this session. Follow the therapist’s clothing instructions to reduce heat-related discomfort.
What to expect
The treatment area generally needs to be exposed to the light; clothing can block it. Follow all positioning and eye-protection instructions. Light exposure is set according to the device instructions. You may feel little or no sensation, or some warmth. Tell us about photosensitivity, relevant medication, medical conditions or unusual reactions.
Compression boots
What to wear
Shorts or lightweight, fitted clothing. Avoid bulky clothing and objects in your pockets.
What to expect
Firm, rhythmic pressure while seated or lying down. Tell us immediately about pain, numbness, tingling, swelling, colour changes or excessive pressure. Inform us about blood clots, circulation problems or significant heart conditions.
Cupping
What to wear
Clothing that allows access to the treatment area.
What to expect
A pulling sensation and possible circular marks or discolouration lasting several days or longer. Tell us about sensitive skin, blood-thinning medication, clotting problems, infections, wounds or easy bruising.
Combined sessions
What to wear
Adjustable sportswear. You may need to expose an area or change clothing for specific treatments: adjustable clothing for massage; stretchy sportswear for mobility; light-coloured clothing, with no black clothing, for Vital Light Therapy; equipment-compatible clothing for compression boots; and swimwear, a towel and dry clothes for an ice bath.
What to expect
Your therapist will explain the order of the selected treatments, positioning and any clothing changes. You may ask questions or stop a technique at any point.
Before & after your visit
Before your visit
Arrive hydrated and avoid a heavy meal immediately before treatment.
What to expect
Tell us about your training schedule and recovery goals. Communicate immediately about pain or unusual sensations. Return to exercise according to how you feel and the advice provided. Seek medical care for severe, worsening or unusual symptoms.
